Wow! 2 more days!
Currently, we're knee deep in camping gear, clothes, bug repellent and sun screen, trying to get everything packed for our trip. How many trips can one person possibly make to Target and REI?? I think we've been about 20 times in the last 2 weeks... seriously... and we just thought of a few other things we need from Target... guess Justin's heading back there tomorrow.
The first stop on our trip will be a hike up Mt. Kilimanjaro. We've been training hard for the hike: running, weight lifting and climbing up and down the 22 story building at MIT on the weekends. This weekend we had an awesome time at Ruth and Kevin's wedding in Albany, NY, and got a chance to talk to Rob and Jen, who climbed Kilimanjaro a few years ago. They gave us a number of helpful pointers on climbing Kili, and I think we're feeling pretty good about getting to the top! Summit day is February 24, since we'll be 8 hours ahead, think good thoughts the evening of the 23rd... we'll need the encouragement. We're climbing with a group of 6 other people, organized by bootsnall.com. Our 'expedition' is going to consist of 8 climbers, 1 guide, 3 assistant guides and 30 porters! The only thing we'll have to carry is water for the day and ourselves. It'll be an amazing start to our African adventure!

As an FYI, there is going to be a full lunar eclipse on February 20th that is scheduled to start about 8:43pm EST and reach totality from about 10pm to 11pm. Hopefully you'll be able to see it!

30 Porters! I hope none of them are spooked by the lunar eclipse. I can't wait to see the pictures and read the blog. Have a great trip.
Lunar eclipse... that's awesome. Although I don't know how much of it we'll be able to see since we're 8 hours ahead. We'll let you know.
