Starting our Overland

We just began our overland trip and have arrived in Botswana. There are 18 people in our group from Australia, New Zealand, England, South Africa, Canada, Germany and the US. We are camping for the majority of the next 3 weeks at different camp sites throughout southern Africa. The truck that carries us is pretty nice, seats up to 24 and has room below for all of our gear, food, tents, etc. We'll take a pic and post it soon.
Yesterday we did a trip into Chobe National Park. While we saw many of the same animals we've already seen in Tanzania, here we had some real close encounters with elephants. We watched a number of the come to the river to drink, cool off and play.

In addition, we saw the biggest elephant we've ever seen! Unforunately, there is no reference in this picture but take our word for it, it was HUGE.

We took a sunset cruise on the Chobe river and saw all the animals coming down to the river to play, drink and relax (Chobe Happy hour of sorts!). This crocodile was just hanging out trying to cool down be opening and closing his mouth. Chobe claims to be home to the most elephants of all of African parks and it lived up to it's claim.

We're heading to Maun tomorrow, where we will start a 3 day excursion into the Okavango Delta.
